A WOMAN FOR OUR TIME: ST. ELIZABETH OF HUNGARY

A Woman for Our Time: St. Elizabeth of Hungary, 1207-2007, written and directed by Lori Pieper, SFO is a new video documentary on the life of the patron saint of our order.

The film, shot in Rome, Assisi, Esztergom, Budapest and Los Angeles, interweaves the story of Elizabeth’s life, told in images and historical recreations, with commentary by historians about her and her time.

It also chronicles the events of the eighth centenary of her birth in 2006-2008, including conferences, liturgical celebrations and interviews with members of the Third Order Secular and Regular, who tell how they became acquainted with St. Elizabeth, what she means to them and how the celebration of her centenary has led them on a journey of rediscovery of her.

Elizabeth's life as a laywoman, wife and mother is one that we in the SFO can readily identify with. Young people will be especially inspired by this young woman's social conscience, and the way she loved God in action. She is truly a woman for our time.

The 140-minute film will be distributed by Tau Cross Books and Media.  Information will be available on the website (www.taucrossbooks.com) about how to order as the release date nears in early 2011.
